Custom HMI FAQs

Find answers to common questions about HMI architecture, customization, prototypes, communication interfaces, software support and production.

What information is required for a custom HMI project?

Please provide the application, display size and resolution, controller or operating system, interface, touch type, brightness, environment, mounting method, enclosure needs, estimated quantity and required certifications. Drawings and interface documents are helpful when available.

What is the difference between a UART HMI and an industrial panel PC?

A UART HMI combines display control and serial communication for an MCU or PLC. An industrial panel PC includes a more complete computing platform, operating system, storage, I/O and application environment. The suitable architecture depends on software, performance and integration requirements.

Can you customize RS232, RS485, CAN or Ethernet interfaces?

Yes. Interface options can include TTL UART, RS232, RS485, CAN, Ethernet and other I/O. Connector, isolation, termination, protocol and power requirements are confirmed during engineering review.

Can NoseDisplay develop the GUI and communication protocol?

GUI pages, icons, alarms, data visualization, multilingual content and communication protocols can be developed or adapted according to the confirmed platform and project scope.

Can you customize the enclosure and mounting structure?

Yes. Open-frame, panel-mount, mounting frame, cutout, cover glass and enclosure options can be evaluated from drawings, installation constraints and environmental requirements.

What touch technologies are available?

Capacitive and resistive touch options are available. Cover glass, touch controller, glove or water behavior and optical bonding requirements are selected according to the application and validated through testing.

What is the typical prototype and production process?

The typical process includes requirement review, architecture recommendation, specification and drawing confirmation, prototype development, testing and design validation, followed by production preparation. Timing, tooling, MOQ and sample cost depend on the confirmed configuration.

What support is provided after sample testing?

After sample testing, the engineering team can review feedback, update drawings or specifications, support firmware and GUI revisions, confirm production requirements and follow the project through design validation and mass-production preparation.
